It was a joyful moment today, 17th February 2022 in honor and recognition of the giant strides achievements of Prof. Saad Ahmed as he marks two years in office as the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.
The event was graced by the Top Management committee, the Head of Departments/Units and other members of staff.
In his welcome address, the Medical Director, Prof. Saad Ahmed, appreciated the organizers of the event for efforts put together to achieve this eventful appraisal. He also thanked the Federal Government for the privilege given to him to serve in this capacity. He revealed that the secret of his achievements centres on the unity of staff and efficient service delivery. Also the act of funds raising from philanthropist for the extension of some projects in the hospital has been of tremendous help.
He outlines his achievements in the area of infrastructures which include construction of the Administrative block, Clinical Services Complex, Ward extention block.
The Medical Director spoke on the development of new land space for the hospital which the Minister of FCT has promised to look.
He also sought continuous support from the Top Management and staff, stating that new ideas are welcome.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to most outstanding staff from all units and departments. The Head of Internal Medicine, Dr. Biodun Olugbenga received a special award from the ELBE Pharma Nig. Ltd as best researcher in FMC, Abuja.
Another interesting part of the event was the unveiling of the Special edition of FMC Abuja news magazine which was reviewed by Dr. Bioku Muftarh and the official presentation was done by Dr. Mohammed Kawu.
The Head of Oncology Unit, Dr. Tessy Ahmadu, in her goodwill message described Prof. Saad Ahmed as a support giver which is visible in his style of leadership as the Medical Director. She further described him as a leader that believes in team work which has been the bedrock of his success stories recorded in the past two years.
In the same vein, Mrs Nehemiah Folashade also appraised Prof. Saad Ahmed as been the first leader in the years of FMC Abuja that set up a planning committee for effective service and infrastructural development in the hospital.
Dr. Timothy Samaila, a friend to the MD described Prof. Saad Ahmed as a medical luminary, visionary leader, and a good administrator. He further pulled the string of appraisal by calling him a true representative leader who hit the ground running when it comes to effective leadership by identifying the works of his predecessor and built on them.
According to him, the MD has opened a frontier in the management of patients treatment in FMC Abuja. He is an academician, research oriented, robust service delivery and support for the staff in various trainings.
In his final words, Dr Timothy made an established statement that FMC Abuja is capable of delivering health care services achieved in any developed country.
